Historical Notes:
This cemetery is owned by the City of Charlotte and is the largest cemetery in the county.
It was organized in 1851.
Section K was divided by 3 early churches-First Presbyterian, Second Presbyterian and Brevard St. Methodist.
Originally, the cemetery was for whites only. It is next to Pinewood, which was originally designated for African-Americans.

Many bodies may be moved in order to accomodate light rail. The names of these in question as of 11/2004 are included and are provided by Historic Charlotte.
