Charlotte is the city of churches. There are hundreds throughout the county. Most everyone dresses up in their best clothes to go to church on Sunday or to the Synagogue on Saturday. The church is one of the centers of activities for many families living in Charlotte over a hundred years ago. Parents and children attend Sunday school and then attend services. Afterwards, most families ate a big dinner with grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins. No businesses are opened on Sunday, including the movies, stores, pharmacies or restaurants. Everything is quiet on Sundays.
