This exhibit is build from 35mm and 4" x 5" negatives from the Carolina Room's Charlotte Observer Negative Collection. These negatives were scanned on a flat bed scanner and positives were created using PhotoShop.
Research for the exhibit was based on the following Charlotte Observer articles:
"Barriers Go Down in Erin Parade," by Kays Gary and Don Oberdorfer. March 17, 1957. 1-A. Two of the photographs appear with this article and are credited to photographer Don Sturkey.
"A Touch of Irish, This St. Patrick's Day Parade Started as a One-Woman Show," by Diane Suchetka. March 13, 1998. 3-C.
These and many other interesting stories about Charlotte-Mecklenburg appear in the Charlotte Observer on 35mm microfilm, available for viewing in the Carolina Room.
