The Louise Cotton Mill still stands at 1101 Hawthorne Lane in Charlotte. At the time of its completion in 1897, it was the largest mill in Charlotte. In 1901, a large additon was completed.
Mayor Thomas L. Kirkpatrick (1877-1946) and the Charlotte Board of Alderman posed for this picture on January 11, 1916. Kirkpatrick is in the center. Kirkpatrick served as Charlotte’s mayor from 1915-1917.

The Central Hotel was one of the longest operating hotels in Charlotte (1849-1930s.) Originally known as the Mansion House, the name was changed in the 1870s. The owners of the hotel boasted of its large, elegant ballroom.

Freedom Park is located off of East Boulevard in Myers Park. It opened in 1948. This is part of an outdoor theater that was a special project of the Charlotte's Lion Club. It has since been redesigned. Physical Description: 3x5 Publisher: Dexter Press
A night time view of the Liberty Life Building in Charlotte at 112 South Tryon Street. Originally known as the First National Bank in 1927, the name changed in 1940 when Liberty Life Insurance Company of Greenville, South Carolina purchased the property.
The Trust Building on South Tryon Street housed the Charlotte Opera House (1902-1922) on the first floor. A number of other businesses had offices in the Trust Building, including the Southern Power Company as well as the Academy of Music.
The Carnegie Free Library in Charlotte opened its doors in 1903. Located at 310 North Tryon Street. It was the city's first free public library. Although this building was demolished in the 1950s, a library is still located at this address.
