Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He was discharged from regular Army in 1939. He enlisted in the recruiting service in June, 1940 and became a warrant officer in Atlanta, GA. He drowned in Panama City. Funeral was held March 2, 1944, at Hovis Funeral Home.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: A 20 year veteran who was Asst Director of the Parris Island Marine band for many years. While on the way back to the Pacific area he became ill and was hospitalized in San Francisco, where he died. Burial in Early Branch, SC on Nov 27.
Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Quarles became ill in England, was taken to Walter Reed Hospital, and then to Charlotte. He died after a 10 month battle with cancer. He is buried in Chapel Hill Cemetery. His wife was also a UNC student.
