This is the third and current location of Presyberian Hospital, now Novant Presbyterian.  In 1898 the hospital was located on the corner of Trade and Mint Streets in what was once known as the Arlington Hotel.
Driving down East Trade Street, the name changes to Elizabeth Avenue once crossing Kings Drive. Once lined lined with lovely houses, the area has changed since the late 1920s. 
Postcard with the banner of Elizabeth College.  Founded in 1896 by the Lutheran Church, the school attracted young women from across the state. It was well-known for its music conservatory.

East Trade Street from the the Square. 
Mercy Hospital was founded by the Sisters of Mercy of Belmont, North Carolina in February 1906. Originally it was a twenty-five bed facility in a wooden building on East First Street behind St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church.
Before 1960, Lake Wylie was known as Lake Catawba. Located on the Catawba River in both Gaston and Mecklenburg Counties,  the lake formed after the construction  of dam in South Carolina.
The Wilder Building was located at the corner of 3rd and South Tryon Streets. It was named for Dr. Hillory Madison Wilder, who once owned a residence on this site. He had the house torn down and the ten-story building was constructed.
