Brooklyn

Second Ward lies within the city of Charlotte, NC, south of Trade Street and east of Tryon Street. Boundary Street and Little Sugar Creek formed its other boundaries. Beginning in the late nineteenth century, African Americans made it the largest of their enclaves within the center city and gave it the name Brookyn.

• The 400 and 500 blocks of South Brevard and South Caldwell Street - area contains Brevard Street branch of the public library, churches, a movie theater, and private dwellings large and small
• The 400 and 500 blocks of South Alexander, South Myers, and South McDowell Street - area contains Second Ward High School and the Myers Street School.
