1968 - Jackie Harrison Graduates from Harding High
1968 - Jackie Harrison graduates from predominantly white Harding High School.
- Jackie Harrison serves as features editor on the all-white Harding High School yearbook staff.
- In later years, this National Merit semi-finalist would earn even more recognition as the first black woman elected sheriff in the US.
- Like other black students, Harrison needed to get special permission from the school board to attend Harding. This method of desegregation is called "freedom of choice" and places a few hundred black students in all-white schools.
