Hotel Charlotte Advertisement

A 1930 postcard advertising the amenities of the Hotel Charlotte and the city of Charlotte. Notes about the hotel from the card reads as follows,`Largest hotel in the Carolina's, 400 rooms, each with private bath: 78 per cent of the rooms are priced at $3.50 or less, 59 per cent at $3 or less, 25 per cent at the minimum rate of $2.50, single. United States Post Office and Courthouse

This the way the courthouse and post office appeared when it was first constructed in 1915. Today  Charles R. Jonas Federal Building is an historic two-story, limestone structure in the neo-classical design. It is located at 401 West Trade Street, in Charlotte with an addition that was built in 1934. At various times it has served as a courthouse of the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and a United States post office. In 1975, the building was renamed in honor of long-serving North Carolina Congressman Charles R.

Charlotte Memorial Hospital

Memorial Hospital was created in 1940 due in part to the trustees of St. Peter's Hospital, who worked to form the new medical facility. Today it is known as the Carolinas Medical Center. Physical Description: 3x5 Publisher: Dixie News Company

Selwyn Hotel

United States Federal Courthouse and Post Office

The Charles R. Jonas Federal Building is an historic two-story, limestone structure in the neo-classical design. Completed in 1915, it is located at 401 West Trade Street, in Charlotte. At various times it has served as a courthouse of the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and a United States post office. In 1975, the building was renamed in honor of long-serving North Carolina Congressman Charles R. Jonas, and was transferred to the city in exchange for land in the fall of 2005. The city lease the building to the federal government for continued use.

Presbyterian Hospital

Presbyterian Hospital is located on the former site of Elizabeth College. It was founded in 1898 by four doctors who first called it Charlotte Private Hospital. It is located at 200 Hawthorne Lane. Physical Description: 3x5 Publisher: E. C. Kropp Company

Stonewall Hotel and Annex

Fifth Mecklenburg County Courthouse
