He was born in the house on Fairview Rd. in Mint Hill occupied by his family from 1886 until 1908, when they moved to Charlotte. His name appeared on the Service Flag on 9/22/1918 of First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC. He died from Parkinson's disease and complications of surgery. He is buried in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Lincolnton, GA.
