While he was in school, he did best in languages, accounting and drawing. He weighed 160 lbs. and was 5/8' tall in 5/1918. His legal residence at that time was 826 Park Ave, Hamilton, OH. He was not married and had no children. He had made his second application for citizenship by 5/1918.While at Camp Greene, he applied to be in the flying aviation section or the aerial observers.At the time of his application for the aviation section, he had experience in accounting, automobile driving, and photography, still pictures. He had been the official photographer for the 136th Artillery at Camp Sheridan, AL. He claimed to 'have been experimenting for the past 10 years in the photographical lines. Ulrik rated himself average with men his age in his ability to play chess, football (association) and exhibit horsemanship. He could also speak and correspond in German and all Scandinavian languages. He had also applied to get in the Photographical Unit of the Army.Three people he used as references for his request to join the aerial service were W. L.
