He was a student at UNC-Chapel Hill and known throughout the state for his football abilities. He was in the S.A.T.C. at Chapel Hill and would have graduated in the class of 1922. He died from pneumonia following the flu. He is listed on the Mecklenburg County Roll of the Dead. His name appears on the city draft list. These cards have not survived.
