His name appears on the city draft list. These cards have not survived. He was black and 23 years old. After the war, he lived on E. 10th St., N. McDowell, and E. 7th St. in Charlotte. He family resided on Arden St., when he died.The date of his birth is questionable. His draft registration says 1894. His death certificate says 1899. Doris Ward says it is 1895. Various census records do not confirm any dates.
