Maxwell Tomb, Jr.
Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: In the 1920 census, the family lived in Charleston, West Virginia. While he was a junior high student in Charlotte, his father worked as a manager for Whitney & Kemmerer Inc. His family lived at 1007 Central Ave. in 1932. Lt. Tomb enlisted in the Army Air Corps in Harrisburg, PA. At the time of his induction, he had completed four years of high school, was currently working in the oil and gas industry and was 68 inches tall and 142 pounds. He was survived by his older brother, Robert H. Tomb of Charlotte, and his mother, Mrs. Maxwell H. Tomb of York, PA. The newspaper reported he was killed in action. He is buried at the Cambridge (England) American Cemetery, Plot D, Row 2, Grave 57.
