Military Details:
Sergeant Irby entered the army in March of 1966 and was an honor graduate of paratrop school at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and earned his the rank of Sergeant only after 20 months of service. He deployed to Vietnam in December of 1967 and was died from a gunshot wound to the back during an ambush on his units night patrol. His father, Sergeant First Class Arthur S. Irby, also served in the Army and was stationed in Thailand during his son's death.
