Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He was killed while on a routine training flight. A memorial service was held on 4-21-1943 at the base near Jacksonville. His funeral was held at the J. M. Harry & Bryant Funeral Home on 5-1-1943. His burial was at Elmwood Cemetery.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He was badly wounded when his company attacked an enemy position in southwest Germany. He died as a result of his injuries. He is buried in the U.S. Cemetery in Bensheim, Germany. Memorial Marker at the U.S. Cemetery in Lorraine, France.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He drowned while serving in the Philippines. He had been serving on a ship which delivered supplies to troops. There was a memorial service at The First Baptist Church 7-14-1946. Memorial marker at Ft McKinley, Manila, PI.

William Somervell, Jr.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He completed 300 hours of flight over The Hump, the allied lifeline to China. This was a treacherous route over impassable mountains. He died from injuries in a crash landing at Tezpur, India, which was the only accident of his flying career. His memorial marker is at National Memorial Cemetery in Honolulu, HI.
