James Moran

Notes: Policeman shot at the corner of 8th and College on Saturday morning the 2nd. He died at his residence on E. Stonewall from internal bleeding of a pulmonary artery. Catholic rites were performed and mass held at St. Peters. He was born in Kildare County, Ireland in ?1858 and after living in several northern cities as a boy, went to Ohio. Then he moved to Charlotte and worked as a section hand on the Richmond & Danville freight line. He was elected to the Charlotte police force in 1889.
