Walker's Drugstore and the Fisk Rubber Company occupied the building at 332 North Tryon Street. Dr. T. Arthur Walker ran the drugstore. This building stands on the corner of 8th and Tryon.

J. Harvey Wallace Funeral and Charlotte Gun Club

Image is of two different subjects.The first image on top is of the funeral procession for Fire Chief J. Harvey Wallace, who was killed in an explosion on July 1, 1914.

Sugaw (Sugar) Creek Cemetery and Church

Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church is located on North Tryon Street. Founded in 1755, the building in this photograph was constructed in 1895, and it still stands.  The cemetery, seen above,  features dates to the mid-eighteenth century.

Zebulon B. Vance's Charlotte Residence

The Charlotte residence of Zebulon B. Vance (1830-1894) at Sixth and College Streets. Born in Buncombe County, Vance served twice as Governor of North Carolina. After the Civil War he moved to Charlotte and established a law practice. Later Vance was served as one North Carolina's   a United States Senator.

Federal Buildings on West Trade Street

Entrance to the United States Post Office in Charlotte. Between 1875 and 1917, the United States Post Office in Charlotte was located at West Trade and Mint Streets. The Assay Office (former US Mint) and the Shipp Monument is visible.
