With the assistance of James B. Duke, plans were made to install larger, more mature trees along the streets in Myers Park. Theodore King, who worked for Duke, oversaw the operation which took place in 1916 and the winter of 1917.

So This is College was released in 1929.The Carolina Theatre opened in 1927 on the corner of North Tryon and Sixth Streets. With a seating capacity of 1,800 and beautiful architectural and decorative features, it remained a popular entertaintment venue for many years. Today, part of the theatre still stands and efforts are underway to restore the structure to its initial glory.
