CELEBRATION FUNDS WILL PAY ALL BILLS  

Committee Liquidates All Those Approved and There is Slight Balance for Incidentals.  

The great May Twentieth celebration of 1916 will go down in history, as not only the biggest in point of numbers present, eminence of guests in attendance and success in the handling of the vast throngs, but it will be noteworthy as a celebration that was able to balance accounts at the end of the period.  

At a meeting of the finance committee yesterday, called for the purpose of concluding all details incident to the big event, it was found that after paying all bills presented and approved, the committee would have approximately $290 left with which to satisfy other creditors yet to render accounts. A portion of this will have to go to repairing the flags and for such other incidentals as always show up. The committee stated yesterday afternoon that it figured on just about breaking even after all bills were paid. The underwriting committee that had charge of bringing the United States Marine Band to the city gave to the musicians a purse of $500 over and above the amount required to pay their expenses to and from Washington. This was in the nature of a good will offering and as such was keenly appreciated by the men. The committee handled something over $12,000.
