Biographical Notes:
He is listed as an alumni of the North Carolina Medical College from Charlotte in service. This school was originally part of Davidson College and moved to Charlotte in 1915. He died of pneumonia during the war. He is buried at St. Mihiel Cemetery, France. His wife was anticipating his early return home and was shocked to learn of his death. Captains Smith and Streeter, his co-workers in France, came to see her in Charlotte when they returned to the States in January. A memorial mass was held on February 2, 1919.His file contains a letter describing a submarine attacking their boat during the crossings.
