The May 20th Society invites you to join us for the 235th Celebration of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, featuring the unveiling of “The Spirit of Mecklenburg” Statue by national artist, Chas Fagan.

At the Corner of 4th Street and Kings Drive "The Spirit of Mecklenburg" Statue will be the centerpiece of the Trail of History on The Little Sugar Creek Greenway. The statue depicts Captain James Jack on his ride from Charlotte to Pennsylvania to deliver the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence to Continental Congress.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., check out the Colonial Village in front of CPCC's Overcash Building hosted by The Charlotte Museum of History, featuring colonial re-enactors. Come examine 18th Centurty-style objects, make a backcountry craft or try your hand at a colonial game.
