River of Life - Beatties Ford Road [1]
- In the early 1960s, the Johnson family waits on Beatties Ford Rd [2]. for the JCSU homecoming parade to pass through their neighborhood.
- The Rev. I. Milledge offers an array of fruits and vegetables [3] at his produce and flower stand.
- Andrew Grier and Harriet Rawlinson are the 1996 King and Queen [4], shown here on the Second Ward Alumni Charlotte Chapter float in the JCSU homecoming parade.
- Nevord Morris cradles his six-month old granddaughter, Michelle [5], as they attend a worship service at University Park Baptist Church, off Beatties Ford Road.
- Students from Joann Daughtry's dance school [6] perform their recital at JCSU in the 1950s.
- Sam Anderson [7] was one of the many black residents who left the Brooklyn neighborhood and moved to the Beatties Ford area after losing their homes as part of urban renewal. [8]
- People from all corners of the westside community still participate in the JSCU annual homecoming parade [9].
