He was written that he was one of 17 'enlisted men of the command in automobiles passed men in plain sight within 20 feet on the Tuckaseegee Road near my Headquarters between the hours of 3:00 and 3:30 P. M. this date (4/13/1918). All had either A or B class conduct cards and should be derated. I stopped the automobiles and took their names after their failure to salute.'
