His birthdate is given as 10-7-1886 or as 8-27-1887.He died of pneumonia and influenza, contracted while treating men at Camp Jackson. There were over 3000 cases of influenza at the camp.Funeral service by Cherryville's Lutheran church with burial in the family plot there.
