Bethesda Church and Cemetery

In May of 1983, this Church was known as Bethesda Church and has since changed names. See John the Baptist Ministries Church and Cemetery.

Bethesda Methodist Church Cemetery

There are many unmarked graves or grave markers without inscriptions. The first known burial was 1845, and the last known burial was in 1896. It is reported to be one of the first Methodist congregations between the Catawba and the Yadkin Rivers. It was organized by Andrew Moore, a former member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church. William J. Biddleville Cemetery

This has unmarked graves as well as temporary markers. This is not a complete list of burials.

This cemetery can be found at the dead end of Cemetery St., off Beatties Ford Rd., near Johnson C. Smith University.

Big Pineville AME Zion Church and Cemetery

The original church is no longer standing. Members have relocated to their current church building on Providence Rd. West. This list of burials was abstracted by Pam Rasfeld and completed on 11/13/1999. The Carolina Room has a list of burials through 2-14-2001. The cemetery is behind a brick wall within a Ballantyne area neighborhood.

Big Spring United Methodist Church and Cemetery

The church was organized in 1866. Some family names from the Charles cemetery survey in 1983 are Walker, Woodard and Brown. The church and cemetery are visible from Old Dowd Rd.

Caldwell Family Cemetery

The graves were relocated to the McKendree Methodist Church Cemetery in Iredell Co., NC. Earliest burial was 1801.

The original site is now under Lake Norman. It was one half mile north of where the pipeline crosses Bethel Church Rd.
