Center Grove AME Zion Cemetery, Site #2

The church began in 1884 near Highland Park Manufacturing Company mill, which was built in 1903. The church was moved in 1900 to approximately 1 acre of land on W. Craighead Rd. Many of those buried in the cemetery have been removed. Only one headstone is currently visible. This is not a complete list of burials.  1/2 mile from the intersection of Graham St. on the east side of the street behind a business

Center Grove HL

Comprehensive Genealogical Services, June M. White, verifiers The owner in 2002 was Cedar Grove AME Zion Church.

Centre Presbyterian Church & Cemetery

This church is no longer in Mecklenburg Co. and has been included because the members first met two miles north of Davidson College in the Osbornes Meeting House and organized in 1765. The name was chosen because of its relation to other settlements. The original building was destroyed by fire in 1775 and Centre was rebuilt in its present location.

The name was chosen because of its relation to other settlements. The original building was destroyed by fire in 1775 and Centre was rebuilt in its present location.

Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church

The church was rebuilt in 1920 and 1985. Some surnames are Rush, Trapp, Nealy, Adams, Caldwell, Gibson and Connor. This is not a complete list of burial records. The cemetery is on the side of the church and is visible from the road.

Charlotte Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum

It has been in operation since 1968. This cemetery is visible from the road. It is on the east side of Hood Rd. near the intersection with Robinson Church Rd.

China Grove Road Cemetery

In 2004, it was reported that these graves might need to be moved for the Lynx Blue Line.This cemetery of unknown origin is north of the China Grove AME Zion Church property and appears to have 12 graves.

Christian Aid Society Cemetery

The Christian Aid Society was founded on 1-20-1905. Some surnames are Black, Wilson, Brown, Byers and Torrence. This cemetery is located about 1 mile off Hwy. 115 on Ridge Rd. The road will dead-end at the cemetery. It is next to Davidson College property.
