Charles Morris

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He was killed from head injuries received in an automobile wreck. He was riding in a Model T Ford as a passenger with his first cousin, Rufus Morris of Eastway Drive in Charlotte. The collision of two cars occured at Elizabeth Ave. and Torrence St. in Charlotte. Sgt. Morris was home on furlough when the fatal wreck happened. The funeral service was held at the Philadelphia Presbyterian Church on 7-24-1945. Burial was at Evergreen Burial Park in Mint Hill.

John McNeely, Jr.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: He was killed at San Pedro Bay on Leyte Island during the initial return of American troops to the Philippines. He was killed by artillery fire, as he was landing on the beach. He is buried in Grave #732 at the United States Cemetery in Palo, Leyte, Philippine Islands. His memorial service was at First Presbyterian on August 15, 1945.
