Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Shot down over Rendsburg while on a bombing mission to Kiel. Never found. Completed 10 combat missions. Grew up at Thompson Orphanage, Charlotte.

Leslie Heath, Jr.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Wounded in action in Germany on January 15th, and died in France the next day. Burial and memorial marker at the Army Cemetery in Luxembourg. Mural unveiling and a special communion service held on 10/7/45 at Dilworth Methodist Church honoring 10 members who gave their lives in WWII.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: Memorial Service at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church on June 3, 1945. Killed in action near Fredeburg, Germany and buried with the Protestant faith in a military cemetery in Ittenbach, Germany. Memorial marker in the Netherlands.

Death Details/Burial/Memorial Services: There are conflicting names given for probably the same individual. The Honor Roll published by the War Dept. listed Silas V. Hargett, as dying from non-battle related causes. The Y.M.C.A. has a file for someone named Virgil Hargett, who was killed in action in the Solomon Islands but does not list the source other than The Charlotte News.
