Official Program Shows Three Days Filled With Events That Will Amuse And Interest Thousands of Visitors  

The Twentieth is upon us.

Special mention should have appeared of the float entered by the Cole Manufacturing Company.  It consisted of an elegant exhibit of the several machines manufactured by this enterprising and well-known concern.

THE DAY WE CELEBRATE.  

The Twentieth of May is here, Tar Heels;

And President Taft’s here, too.

The streets are thronged with people,

And covered with Red, White and Blue.

Everyone’s here from far and near;

Like Hornets around their nest.

All celebrating our declaration,

The one we love the best.

We see many a familiar face

As through the crowds we meander,

MAY TWENTIETH.  

Today marks another anniversary of the signing of the immortal Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence.  Although the celebration of the occasion is not marked by that brilliance and ostentation that has been witnessed before, in the hearts of every true Tar Heel the significance of the day is none the less keenly appreciated.
